Clearingthebuffer

When DIP switch 1-2 is ON, the printer stores receiveddata in a large

memorybuffer.Thiscreatesaproblemwhenyouwanttoabandonaprinting

job andrestart:theprintermaybeholdingmoredatain itsbufferthanithas

actuallyprinted,andthisunprinteddatamustbe clearedoutbeforerestart-

ing.Turningpoweroff is oneway to clearthe buffer,but there is another

way:

1. Halt the printingprogramon the computer.If printingstops immedi-

ately,thebufferis clearandtherestofthisprocedureis unnecessary.If

printingdoesnot stop,continueas follows:

2. PresstheONLINEbuttontosettheprinteroff-line.Printingwinnowstop,

but theremaybe dataremainingin the buffer.

3. Press andholdthe

FONTbutton.

WhileholdingtheFONTbuttondown,pressandholdtheONLINEbutton.

Continueholdingthesetwo buttonsdown.In aboutthree secondsyou

willhear a beeptonesignalingthat the bufferhas been cleared.

5. Releasethesebuttons,makeanynecessarycontrolpanelsettings,then

settheprinterbackon-line.

Itisessentialtohalttheprintingprogramonthecomputerbeforeyougooff-

lke. Otherwise,when

you go backon-linethe computerwillstartsending

dataagainandtheprinterwillcontinueprinting,withmissingdatawherethe

bufferwas cleared.
